Mr. David B. Matthews currently serves as the Director of the Division of New Reactor Licensing in the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission's (NRC's) Office of New Reactors (NRO). Mr. Matthews leads, manages, and facilitates design certification application reviews, early site permit application reviews, combined license application reviews, and new reactor pre-application activities. He is responsible for developing and maintaining the necessary technical and programmatic support for new reactor licensing activities, guidance development, interaction with stakeholders on issues pertaining to new reactors, large-scale project management tools, schedule and resource planning and tracking, and issuance of design certifications and Combined Licenses (COLs). Mr. Matthews received a MS degree in Physics from Cornell University. |

Mr. Plisco has worked for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission since 1982. He has held positions of increasing responsibility including roles as a reactor inspector, reactor construction inspector, a senior resident inspector at a commercial reactor plant, inspection program staff, supervisor, manager, and a leader for numerous special projects and initiatives. He has worked in the Region I Office, King of Prussia, PA; the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation and the Office of the Executive Director for Operations, Rockville, MD; and Region II, Atlanta, GA. He was appointed to the Senior Executive Service in 1997. In 2003 he was selected to be the Deputy Regional Administrator for Region II, and most recently in 2006, he was selected to be the Deputy Regional Administrator for Construction. In this position, he is responsible for regulatory oversight of construction activities at commercial nuclear reactors and fuel cycle facilities nationwide.
Prior to joining the NRC, Mr. Plisco served on active duty as a submarine officer in the U.S. Navy’s Nuclear Power Program. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Systems Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy and a Master’s Degree in Technical Management from Johns Hopkins University. He received the Presidential Meritorious Rank Award in 2002 and 2009. |

Mr. Tracy is the Director of the Division of Construction Inspection and Operational Programs in NRC’s Office of New Reactors. His Division is responsible for the development of policy and manages the oversight program associated with the construction of nuclear reactors in the United States, including vendor oversight and new reactor operator licensing. His Division is also responsible for the agency's quality assurance, technical specifications and radiation protection for new reactors. Mr. Tracy has led numerous bilateral and multinational exchanges in the area of new reactor construction and vendor oversight across the globe. He is currently the Chair of a Senior Task Group for the Committee on Nuclear Regulatory Activities (CNRA), an international committee made up primarily of senior nuclear regulators from ten different countries, with the objective to address contemporary regulatory challenges in the utilization of contractors in an increasingly global market. |

John Elnitsky is the vice president of New Generation Programs & Projects for Progress Energy. He joined Progress Energy in 2007 as the vice president of Generation and Transmission Construction and later became vice president of Nuclear Plant Development. Prior to joining the company, he served more than 27 years in the United States Navy, rising to the rank of rear admiral.
Elnitsky’s most recent role in the U.S. Navy was as the commander of the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport, RI and as the Navy’s Director of Undersea Technology where he led a 4,100 member workforce and a $1.3 billion research, development, and engineering business. Additionally, Elnitsky served as a member of the Warfare Center Board of Directors responsible for 11 laboratories and 18,500 personnel.
Elnitsky served on board nuclear submarines and oversaw the construction of two submarines through reactor plant initial criticality and sea trials. Prior to commanding a Trident ballistic missile submarine he served as the Atlantic Submarine Force Chief Nuclear Power Officer responsible for the safe reactor plant operations and maintenance of 30 submarines and 4 nuclear maintenance activities.
Elnitsky earned a Bachelor of Science degree, with distinction, from the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. in 1980 and both a Master of Science degree and the advanced degree of Mechanical Engineer from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, Ca. in 1987. He is also a graduate of Naval Nuclear Power School and completed Executive Business education at UC Berkley’s Haas School of Business and UNC’s Keenan Flagler Business School.
Elnitsky is a Project Management Institute certified Project Management Professional, a LEAN/Six Sigma trained Green Belt, and a member of the American Nuclear Society and American Society of Mechanical Engineers. |

Gregory Smith took over the leadership position of URENCO USA in May of 2010. He is tasked with the design, construction and operation of the National Enrichment Facility located near Eunice, New Mexico. The National Enrichment Facility will use the world’s most advanced, energy-efficient and cost effective uranium enrichment technology for the production of energy.
Gregory joined URENCO USA as the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Nuclear Officer in September of 2007. In that role, he was responsible for the Construction, Commissioning, and Operation of the National Enrichment Facility in New Mexico. Prior to accepting that assignment, Gregory was the Senior Vice President, Nuclear Generation and Services at Ontario Power Generation Inc. (OPG) responsible for the strategic direction, planning and execution for the refurbishment of OPG’s 10 nuclear stations, the construction of OPG’s proposed new nuclear stations and the implementation of the company’s service organizations which provide services and products to it customers both internal and external to Ontario Power Generation.
Prior to joining OPG, he worked for ten years at Energy Northwest where he held several positions including Operations Manager, Director of Quality, Plant General Manager, Site Vice President Columbia Generating Station and Vice President Energy Northwest Generation. Before working at Energy Northwest, he was with Entergy for twelve years. He also served with Core Laboratories as an Environmental Scientist and Manager for five years.
Greg has served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Utility Services Alliance; as an executive on the Institute of Nuclear Power Executive Planning Group. He currently serves as a guest lecturer on the topic of leadership for the Institute of Nuclear Power Senior Nuclear Plant Mangers course. He is also chairman of the INDUS Nuclear Leadership council and a past member of the Dominion Management Safety Review Committee.
He has attended Texas A&M University, Mississippi College, and Harvard Business School, completing a Bachelor of Science degree, a Masters of Business Administration and Harvard’s Advanced Management Program. |

Dave Barry is president of the Nuclear Division of Shaw’s Power Group. Shaw is a fully integrated nuclear services provider offering licensing, design, engineering, construction, pipe fabrication, maintenance, modularization, start-up and test and new plant services worldwide.
Mr. Barry oversees all aspects of the Nuclear Division’s business operations, leveraging the company’s recognized nuclear expertise and leading market position to target emerging opportunities in the global nuclear marketplace.
Mr. Barry joined the Shaw Group in 2006 and brings more than 36 years of experience in the global EPC business, with significant expertise in managing nuclear new-build projects. Mr. Barry has worked in every discipline and aspect of the industry, including project, engineering and construction management, business development, process analysis and enhancements, financial oversight and supply chain management. He also has considerable experience managing multinational labor working in the overseas markets, especially in the Middle East.
Prior to joining Shaw, Mr. Barry worked with Bechtel, where he held several leadership positions in operations and business development, including operations manager overseeing the execution of Bechtel’s fossil power projects. Prior to joining Bechtel, Mr. Barry worked for Stone & Webster, Inc., for more than 26 years and held various positions of increasing responsibility.
Mr. Barry graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a degree in mechanical engineering. He has participated in leadership and business execution seminars at the distinguished Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania and holds several professional registrations. Michael S. McGough is a Senior Vice President of UniStar Nuclear Energy (UNE). He is responsible for the growth and development of new nuclear U.S. EPR (Evolutionary Power Reactor) power plants in the United States, under the proprietary UniStar business model.
Mr. McGough joined UniStar in April 2007. He began his career at Westinghouse Electric Corporation as an engineer. Later he joined Quadrex Corporation, where he held a variety of responsibilities supporting PWR and BWR engineering and start-up, commercial-contract activities. Mr. McGough rose to Senior Vice President and officer of this then-publicly traded firm.
Mr. McGough also served as Senior Vice President of PCI Energy Services, later becoming President. There, Mr. McGough was responsible for the growth and development of this world-leading specialty firm, which held an 80 percent market share in steam generator replacement projects, mechanical services, and nuclear decommissioning of reactor internals. Most recently Mr. McGough was involved in the commercialization of systems and services to support the dry storage of spent nuclear fuel, as Sr. Vice President for NAC International and Vice President of EnergySolutions.
Mr. McGough has published and presented more than 30 technical papers on topics ranging from steam generator replacement projects to recovery efforts from the accident at Three Mile Island. He has a BS in engineering (physical metallurgy) from Washington State University and an MBA from the Katz School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh. He also is a graduate of Northwestern University’s Kellogg Management Institute. |

Jim Moody is the Director of Commercial Services at General Dynamics Electric Boat Corporation where he has worked for the last 23 years. In this position, he is responsible for strategic planning and the development of business opportunities in commercial markets. He has worked in varying technical and programmatic capacities in the design and construction of multiple classes of US Navy submarines and was the Site Manager for the EB efforts in support of the Australian Collins Class Submarine. His commercial experience includes ship repair; low pressure tank design and construction; and support of current EB customers in the nuclear power market. He is a naval architect with a BS from Webb Institute and a MS from the University of California at Berkeley.

Mark Marano was appointed to his current position on January 1, 2010. His previous position was Senior Vice President New Plants Business Development for AREVA NP INC. upon his initial hire in March 2009.
Marano has also served as Senior Vice President Marketing, Commercial /Risk Management and Business Development at GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy. In this position he was responsible for all inorganic and organic growth initiatives for the global nuclear business, including mergers & acquisitions, strategic partnerships, alliances, joint ventures and dispositions. This included strategy development, origination, structuring, valuation and negotiation on acquisitions and dispositions.
Other positions held include Vice President Uranium Business Unit at (GE) Global Nuclear Fuels, Vice President, Financial Planning at AEP Service Corporation and
Vice President of Business Services for both the fossil and nuclear generation fleet at AEP Generation.
Marano began his career at AEP as Director of Business Services for the Cook Nuclear Plant. He progressed into serving as President/CEO of two of AEP’s competitive businesses: United Sciences Testing Inc. and Numanco LLC. Most notably, he held the position of Vice President of Business Services for all of AEP’s Generation Fleet. The last position held was Vice President of Financial Planning for AEP‘s entire corporation.
Prior to joining AEP, Marano worked at Florida Power Corporation, (Crystal River Nuclear Plant), Carolina Power and Light’s (Brunswick Nuclear Plant), PSEG’s (Hope Creek and Salem Nuclear Stations) and as a Pricing Analyst and Industrial Engineer for several New York state companies, including a large defense contractor (Grumman Aerospace).

Thomas Flaherty is a Dallas-based Senior Vice President with Booz & Company who works with clients in the electric and gas sectors. Over the past 35 years, Mr. Flaherty has directed numerous engagements that draw upon his expertise in:

Mr. Flaherty has conducted more than 20 retrospective or contemporaneous prudence reviews of nuclear and coal construction projects. These assignments have addressed underlying economic viability, as well as, the functional areas of project management, project controls, design and engineering, procurement, construction, quality assurance, start-up and, financing. These assignments have been conducted for owners, boards of directors and regulators.
He has provided expert testimony before state and Federal regulatory bodies related to these prudence reviews and with respect to other regulatory matters including affiliate interests, competition, revenue requirements, cost allocations, and mergers.
Mr. Flaherty is a frequent speaker at utility industry conferences on topics such as business strategy, M&A strategy, and industry matters. He has recently published articles on capital allocation, business model innovation, M&A, strategic flexibility, and financial management. He also appears before boards of directors to address utility industry topics.

The Honorable Jeffrey S. Merrifield joined the Shaw Group in August 2007 as the Senior Vice President of the Power Group.
As a member of the Power Group’s executive team, Mr. Merrifield is focused on enhancing the group’s external relationships including government affairs, marketing and communications, customer relations and strategic planning. Mr. Merrifield has been particularly involved in supporting the group’s nuclear related efforts.

Cheri Diane Collins is general manager of external alliances in Southern Nuclear’s Nuclear Development organization. In this role, she benchmarks new nuclear projects being constructed in Europe, Asia and India, as well as other nuclear facilities under construction in the U.S. Additionally, she is a primary spokesperson for new nuclear development and is responsible for developing and sustaining key alliances that benefit Southern Company’s nuclear operations.
Prior to her current position, Collins served as Plant Manager at the Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Plant in southeast Alabama where she oversaw all aspects of plant operations.
Collins began her career with Southern Company in 1978 as a summer intern in Alabama Power’s Clanton District office. In 1982, she accepted a full-time position as a junior engineer in the safety, audit and engineering review department at Plant Farley. In 1987, Collins earned a senior reactor operator license from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and was promoted to operations shift foreman.
Collins progressed through positions of increasing responsibility at Plant Farley including licensing supervisor and shift supervisor. From 1993 to 1994 she served as a loaned employee to the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO) where she had the opportunity to observe nuclear plant operations across the country.
After serving as a loaned employee to INPO, Collins’ responsibility continued to increase at Plant Farley. In 1995, she became operations support superintendent and in 1999 she was promoted to operations support manager. In 2002 she became plant support assistant general manager responsible for engineering, security and training.
In 2004 Collins left Plant Farley to assume the position of general manager of nuclear support at the Southern Nuclear corporate offices in Birmingham. As a general manager, she traveled to Germany to visit two nuclear plants. In 2005, while still in Birmingham, she served as Human Resources director for Southern Company Generation. In 2006,
Collins was named general manager of Southern Nuclear’s supply chain organization.
Collins holds a bachelor of science degree in structural engineering from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She is regularly asked to speak at industry conferences addressing various aspects of leadership. In 2001, she was the keynote speaker at the annual CEO conference of INPO. She is a member of the Women in Nuclear Organization (WIN) and has spoken at a number of the organization’s conferences.

Dr. Sanders is currently serving as Executive Officer/Past President of the American Nuclear Society. Recently appointed to be a member of the Civil Nuclear Trade Advisory Committee (CINTAC), which serves to advise Gary Locke, Chairman of the Trade Promotion Coordinating Committee on trade issues facing the U.S. civil nuclear industry. Recently elected to the International Nuclear Energy Academy (INEA). Co-founder and former Vice President of the American Council on Global Nuclear Competitiveness. Manager/integrator of Sandia National Laboratories Global Nuclear Materials Management and Global Nuclear Futures Initiatives since 1997. Organized numerous focus meetings with senior government policy officials on the need for a second nuclear era, from a national security perspective. As the leader of the Global Nuclear Futures vision, led the development of topical meetings, policy papers, news articles, partnership events with other countries and non-government organizations, and caucus events on Capitol Hill to articulate that a healthy and thriving U.S. nuclear energy infrastructure (from education to labs, suppliers, operators, and NGOs) is key to global proliferation risk management in the future. Developed a complementary partnership initiative between 7 U.S. and 9 Russian Lab Directors. This message has been delivered at Presidential summits, White House and Congressional briefings, and to numerous champions throughout government, industry, labor, and academia. Contributed to and managed several technical groups and programs at Sandia since joining in 1984. Ashok S. Bhatnagar was named Senior Vice President Nuclear Generation Development and Construction in TVA on April 30, 2007. Mr. Bhatnagar leads TVA’s effort to study and develop new nuclear generation for meeting the growing demand for power in the Valley. He is responsible for the completion of Watts Bar Unit 2, all licensing and project development activities at Bellefonte, large strategic projects and used fuel management planning.
Mr. Bhatnagar joined TVA in 1999 as Site Support Manager of Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant in Athens, Alabama. In 2000, Mr. Bhatnagar was named Browns Ferry Plant Manager and in 2001, he was named Browns Ferry Site Vice President. He provided general management and oversight of all operations activities for the site, including engineering, modifications, operations, maintenance, site support, security, business services, and training.
In 2004, Mr. Bhatnagar was named Senior Vice President Nuclear Operations in TVA Nuclear. As Senior Vice President Nuclear Operations, Mr. Bhatnagar was responsible for managing and directing the operations and operations support activities at TVA’s Browns Ferry nuclear operating site including the restart of Unit 1 in 2007.
Bhatnagar has 30 years experience in the nuclear industry, with an extensive background in engineering and operations. He has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nuclear Engineering from North Carolina State University, is a graduate of the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations Senior Nuclear Plant Management Course, and earned a senior reactor operator’s license at Catawba Nuclear Station. |

Michael Smith serves as Technical Support Director in the Nuclear Development organization at Southern Nuclear. In this role, he manages all technical functions for Nuclear Development, including Engineering and Licensing for new nuclear generation. Additionally, he is responsible for nuclear fuel, training, and environmental affairs resources that support Nuclear Development.
Mike joined Southern Company in 2001, and has broad experience in wholesale power sales, financial modeling and financial analysis. Mike has served as Core Commercial Operations Manager on the Southern Company trading floor, responsible for real-time trading, scheduling and analysis of wholesale energy transactions. He has also worked as Market Planning Manager for Georgia Power Company, responsible for forecasting energy consumption and revenue for Georgia Power Company customers and determining profitability of end use and customer choice products. Mike also has served as Director, Financial and Contract Services within Southern Company Generation, responsible for administration of the Inter-Company Interchange Contract (IIC), wholesale capacity and energy contracts and the Southern Power Company
mini-pool.
Mike is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and served in the United States Navy as a nuclear submarine officer from 1987 to 1994. He also has engineering experience in the manufacturing industry, having worked as an engineering manager for a specialty chemicals manufacturer as well as a systems engineer in the product packaging industry.

Bruce Landrey’s experience in the nuclear industry encompasses more than 25 years in business strategy, public policy, investor relations, and communications.
Landrey is a former vice president corporate relations, for the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA). While there, Landrey directed communications and government affairs in the seven-state region served by TVA. Prior to joining TVA, Landrey was director of investor relations for Portland General Corp. He also served as assistant to the president, and assistant to the chairman and chief executive officer. In addition, Landrey held the position of director of corporate communications at Portland General Electric Co.(PGE). In those roles, he was involved with acquisitions and new ventures in independent power and wholesale power marketing, and held responsibility for issues management, media relations, community relations and emergency communications planning for PGE’s Trojan Nuclear Plant and proposed Pebble Springs Nuclear Project.
Landrey has been involved in numerous industry-wide initiatives as a committee member of the Nuclear Energy Institute, the Institute for Nuclear Power Operations and the Electric Power Research Institute.

Sandy Rupprecht is Vice President, Regulatory Affairs and Strategy in the Nuclear Power Plants business unit of Westinghouse Electric Company. He is responsible for the global licensing strategy and implementation for the AP1000™. He is also responsible for the long-term growth strategy for the AP1000 in the global market place.
Sandy has been with Westinghouse Electric Company for 29 years, serving in areas of increasing responsibility. Most notably, from 1997 until 2003, he was Vice President of the Engineering Service business. From 2003 to 2008, Sandy served as Vice President of the U.S. Fuel business. From 2008 to 2009, as Vice President of Strategy and Product Management, Sandy was responsible for developing the global growth strategy of the Nuclear Fuel business unit.
Sandy is a 1981 graduate of the Pennsylvania State University with B.S. and M.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering. In 1997, he received an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh. Sandy is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Pennsylvania.

Brian A. McIntyre is the Project Director for AREVA’s U.S. EPR Design Certification Project. In this position he is responsible for coordinating the engineering and licensing activities that will result in the Nuclear Regulatory Commission issuing a design certification for AREVA’s EPR nuclear power plant design.
Prior to joining AREVA, Mr. Mcintyre held management positions in project management and regulatory affairs at American Electric Power’s Donald C. Cook nuclear plant.
Before joining AEP, Mr. Mcintyre spent over 28 years working for Westinghouse Electric Company. While at Westinghouse, Mr. Mcintyre was responsible for the safety and licensing for the AP600 nuclear plant design. This was the first nuclear plant approved by the NRC that relied on passive features to provide emergency core cooling and post-accident containment cooling. Prior to the AP600 assignment, Mr. McIntyre held positions of increasing responsibility in the areas of accident analysis and product licensing for Westinghouse.
Mr. McIntyre is a registered professional engineer in the State of Michigan and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. He has a PMP certification from the Project Management Institute, is a member of ASME and has served on a number of NEI, NUMARC and INPO committees.
Mr. McIntyre received his BSME and MSME degrees from Purdue University.

Mr. Leach manages a geographically diverse project operations organization with offices in North Carolina, South Carolina, Washington State, Nevada, Virginia, and Idaho with a total staffing level of approximately 395 people. The AFS Project Operations organization provides a wide range of engineering, procurement, and construction services to the Department of Energy and other government and commercial clients. In addition, the AFS Project Operations organization provides NDA and NDE services and Packaging and Transportation solutions for radioactive materials.

Carl D. Churchman is the Vice President of Nuclear Projects within Babcock & Wilcox Nuclear Energy, Inc. In this role, Mr. Churchman holds overall responsibility for all major nuclear projects worldwide including developing B&W's capability to successfully execute nuclear island construction projects for the B&W mPower™ reactor.
Before joining B&W in 2010, Mr. Churchman served as Vice President of Construction at Kansas City Power & Light, where he was responsible for all construction aspects of the company’s Comprehensive Energy Plan -- a $6 billion investment that includes construction of an 850 MW supercritical coal-fired power plant, completing environmental upgrades on two coal-fired plants, building 300 MW of wind generation, and planning for additional coal- and nuclear-generation capacity.
Prior to this position, Mr. Churchman served in a project management capacity at Bechtel from 2007 to 2008, where his responsibilities included all construction activities associated with a nuclear steam generator replacement project for Southern California Edison's San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station. Prior to that, from 1977 to 2007, Carl served in a number of positions of increasing importance at Arizona Public Service (APS), including Director, Nuclear Engineering, and Director, Strategic Projects. He began his career with Bechtel in 1972, spending five years in nuclear construction before joining APS. |

John Simmons is senior vice president of nuclear operations for URS’s Power Group.
Mr. Simmons has more than 31 years of design, construction, construction management, and project management experience. His project/ program management background includes industrial plants, commercial construction, power plants, and technical programs. His experience includes projects at coal, gas turbine, and nuclear power plants.
Mr. Simmons currently is responsible for all nuclear operations, including new nuclear plants, services to existing plants, major component replacements not performed by joint venture SGT, and commercial nuclear decontamination and decommissioning. From 2003 through 2005, Mr. Simmons was senior vice president of operations for SGT in its Charlotte, NC corporate office. In this position, his responsibilities included planning, staffing, processes, and bottom line execution of eleven successful SGT steam generator and reactor vessel head replacement outages.
Mr. Simmons was a project manager for SGT assigned to Constellation Energy’s Steam Generator Replacement Project at Unit 2 of the Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant near Lusby, Maryland. The outage set a world record for breaker-to-breaker duration for a CE NSSS SGR. Prior to that, Mr. Simmons was Project Manager for a $500M international consortium responsible for designing and constructing the 1250 MW Ilijan Combined Cycle Project near Batangas City, Philippines. The project was concurrently designed in the US, Japan and Korea and was the first MHI 501G gas turbine plant to operate outside of Japan.
Mr. Simmons’ previous nuclear experience includes various technical and management positions with engineering and construction companies for Watts Bar Unit 1, Clinton Power Stations, South Texas Project, and WPPSS Units 3 and 5.

Ellen Ruff is president, office of nuclear development, for Duke Energy. She is responsible for furthering the development of new nuclear generation in the Carolinas, including advancing Duke Energy’s plans for the proposed Lee Nuclear Station in Cherokee County, S.C. She was named to her current position in December 2008.
Previously, Ruff served as president of Duke Energy Carolinas, a position she held since April 2006. She led Duke Energy’s utility business in North Carolina and South Carolina, serving approximately 2.4 million customers in a 24,000-square-mile service area.
Ruff joined the company in 1978 as an attorney in the legal department for Duke Power. She was named vice president and general counsel of electric operations following the formation of Duke Energy in 1997; vice president and general counsel of corporate, gas and electric operations in January 1999; and senior vice president and general counsel in February 2001. She was named senior vice president of asset management for Duke Power in August 2001; senior vice president of power policy and planning in February 2003; group vice president of power policy and planning in March 2004; and group vice president of planning and external relations in March 2005. She led Duke Power’s strategic planning, compliance, environmental health and safety, and external relations strategy efforts. She was also accountable for establishing and maintaining relationships with key regulators at the state and federal level.
A native of Hartford, Conn., Ruff graduated from Simmons College with a bachelor of arts degree in business, and earned a juris doctor degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is a member of the Mecklenburg County Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the North Carolina State Bar.
In 2010, Ruff was honored with Wachovia/Wells Fargo’s Women in Business Lifetime Achievement Award. She currently serves on the board of directors of Aqua America Inc., a publicly traded water company. She is a former board and executive committee member of the North Carolina Chamber. In 2006, N.C. Governor Mike Easley appointed Ruff to serve a three-year term on the North Carolina Economic Development Board. She has served as a board member of the South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance and a member of the Palmetto Business Forum. She is also a former board member and chair of the 2008 regional campaign for the United Way of Central Carolinas.
Ruff was born in 1948. She and her husband, Tom, have a daughter and two sons.

Brant Meleski joined Merrill Lynch's Global Energy & Power Group as an Associate in 1997, and currently focuses his attention on U.S. Utilities. Brant’s strategic transaction experience includes advising Cinergy Corp. in their $14 billion merger with Duke Energy, co-advisor to Reliant Energy in its $975 million divestiture of the NYC assets, Reliant Resources on its $4.9 billion acquisition of Orion Power, Carolina Power & Light on its $8.0 billion acquisition of Florida Progress and several other transactions where he advised management teams and board of directors.
Brant led several underwriting mandates as a bookrunner, including American Water’s $1.4 billion initial public offering, three subsequent equity offerings totaling approximately $2.1 billion and a $1.5 billion inaugural debt offering. Additionally he was a lead underwriter on Duke Energy’s $2.0 billion equity and equity linked financing, Reliant Energy’s Retail Credit Sleeve that relieved more than $1.0 billion of capital commitments for the Company, Progress Energy’s $3.2 billion inaugural debt offering and $506 million equity offering, and Duke Capital’s $1.5 billion global notes offering.
